Paint correction is a machine polishing process that removes surface-level defects from your vehicle's clear coat — including swirl marks from improper washing, light scratches, water spots, and oxidation that dulls the finish. The result is a factory-smooth, high-gloss surface that is ready for ceramic coating or PPF — or simply stunning on its own.

Multi-Stage Process
1. Paint Inspection — depth gauge measurement to confirm defects are within safe correction range.
2. Decontamination Wash — clay bar and iron decontamination to remove bonded surface particles before polishing.
3. Machine Polishing — one or two-stage compound and polish passes to level the clear coat and restore gloss.
4. Finishing Pass — fine polish for optical clarity and LSP (last step product) protection.
Paint correction is strongly recommended prior to ceramic coating installation to ensure the coating bonds to a defect-free surface.

What does paint correction actually fix?
Swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, water spotting and general dullness in the clear coat. We machine-polish the paint to level those defects rather than fill them, so the gloss and clarity come back for real.
Should I get Stage 1 or Stage 2?
Stage 1 is a single-stage polish removing roughly 50-60% of defects - right for a car in decent shape that needs its clarity back. Stage 2 is a two-step cut and polish removing around 80-90%, for paint with heavier swirling and scratching. Send us photos and we'll tell you honestly which one your car needs.
How long does paint correction take?
Stage 1 is typically a full day. Stage 2 usually runs 1-2 days depending on the size and condition of the vehicle.
Will it remove deep scratches?
No. If a scratch has gone through the clear coat and you can catch it with a fingernail, polishing will not remove it - taking off that much clear coat would do more harm than good. We can dramatically improve how it looks, and we'll be upfront about what will still be visible.
Do I need a coating or wax afterwards?
We strongly recommend it. Correction removes a thin layer of clear coat to level the defects, so protecting the fresh surface with a ceramic coating or sealant is what keeps the result. Without it the swirls come back.
Is this done at your shop or at my place?
Paint correction is done at our shop in Lynnwood. It needs controlled lighting and a clean, sheltered space to be done properly - it is not a driveway job.
