If you have recently wanted to get your car detailed and have been looking into paint correction this is the page for you. I'm going to go over all the tools and products you will need in order to paint correct your car and get it looking brand new again. If you want those " Did you get a new paint job?" comments then your in the write place.

The First step in getting your paint polished is to prep the paint, this step is crucial in order to polish the paint. First you will need to properly wash the car, and claybar the vehicle. These steps will insure that you will get the paint nice and clean  in order to remove all the heavy swirls and defects in the paint. The tools and products too will need are:
  • (3) 5 gallon buckets
  • Wash mitts
  • Grit Guards
  • Drying towel
  • Brushes of different sizes
  • All purpose cleaner
  • Clay lubricant
  • Clay bar, pad, or mitt
  • Air compressor, leaf blower, mini blower
Now you will use all these tools in order to properly prep the vehicle you can check out our other articles to read the step by step process on how to do this.  You also want to make sure to tape off the plastics on the car and blow out all the water with an air compressor or blower in order to make sure that the car is 100% dry. After you have prepped your vehicle you are going to start the polishing process. The tools you will need are:

  • 6” polisher
  • 6” buffing pads (various types)
  • 6” polishing pads (various types)
  • 3” polisher
  • 3” buffing pads (various types)
  • 3” polishing pads (various types)
  • Masking tape
  • Electrical cord
  • Apron
  • Compound
  • Polish
  • Oil/wax cleanser
  • Wax, Sealant, Or Coating
  • Microfiber Towels
Once you have acquired all these tools you are going to start the polishing process you will start by priming you polishing pad and adding a little bit of correction compound to a heavy cutting pad and rubbing it into the pad you will then add a couple drops to the pad and start to polish the big areas of the car first. Work in small sections, move the polisher very slowly, and make sure to buff off any excess compound on the paint to make sure you are getting the right results. You will also want to repeat this step on all the small areas with the 3" polisher.  Once you have compounded the whole car and have removed all the heavy defects in the paint you will now repeat the same process with fine polishing pads and using the polishing compounds. Make sure you are using multiple pads during the polishing and compounds process in order to get the best results. You also want to make sure that you are not using the same pads for compounding and polishing steps in order to prevent cross contamination. After you have finished polishing your paint you will buff off the paint and make sure that you are happy with the results and use some microfiber towels with some Oil/Wax cleanser in order to remove any of the oils that the polish and compound left behind. This step is crucial in order to help the paint bond correctly with the protection that you will use to protect your paint. You will either choose a wax, sealant, or coating to apply to the paint properly and once you have done that you should have a nice looking shiny paint that everyone's going to compliment and when they see you drive by.
