The Process of Car Detailing

What is the Process of Detailing a vehicle?
The goal of every detail is to get the vehicle in the best condition possibly and try to get the vehicle in "like new" condition. During the detailing process, usually there will be a number of steps to achieve a clean car. One of the most important steps in shampooing the carpets and upholstery seats is to remove all stains.

Here at A1 Auto Detailing we use our diluted carpet shampoo and the carpets and upholstery on the seats and floors, then we agitate the chemical into the fabric to allow the stains to break down, next we use our shampoo machine to extract the stains out of the fabric and allow the stains to leave.

In most cases Detailer will shampoo all of the seats or if they are leather seats, we use a safe chemical to clean the leather and put a protection on top to keep the leather from fading or cracking. This process is also done to all of the plastics in the car like the cup holders and dashboard.

After the inside of the vehicle is all clean, the Detailer will start to wash the Wheels, Wheel Wells, and Fender Wells. They will use a wheel cleaner and degreaser to break down dirt, grime, and brake dust to clean every inch of the wheels to look spotless.

After that, they will rinse the whole car thoroughly and fill up 2 buckets with water. One with soap and the other with nothing but water. One bucket will carry the mitts, soap, and detailing brushes used only for the exterior, the other bucket will be used to rinse the mitts after every 2 panels. Before the actual contact wash, professional detailer should always have a foam canon with soap that they will use to foam up the vehicle and add lubrication to the washing process to prevent scratching.

That being said, the detailer will also always wash the vehicle in straight lined motions and never in a swirling motion. After this, the detailer will dry the vehicle with a plush large microfiber towels and make sure the entire vehicle is dry to prevent water spots from drying onto the paint. For the final step, the detailer will dry the wheels and tires to apply tire shine and also apply an added wax or sealant of choice to keep the paint protected. Plus it adds a shine to the vehicle.

Really helpful breakdown of the full detailing process! It’s great to see you emphasizing important techniques like straight-line washing and proper carpet extraction. A lot of people underestimate how much using the right tools and methods, like a foam cannon and two-bucket system, can protect the paint and interior. Thanks for sharing such a detailed explanation – it’s clear you guys take real pride in the quality of your work!
